As 2025 marks the International Year of Quantum Science and Technology, CQIQC is playing a central role in shaping the future of quantum research in Canada.

Dvira Segal, CQIQC Director and professor in the Departments of Chemistry and Physics, talked with Chris Sasaki from A&S News about the centre’s mission to advance quantum science, strengthen public outreach, and train the next generation of researchers. She also highlighted this year’s Quantum Days, hosted in partnership with Deep Tech Canada. In this conference over 400 researchers, students, and industry leaders gathered at the U of T to share research, build networks, and talk about the future of Canadian quantum innovation.

Looking ahead, CQIQC is expanding its reach across disciplines and into industry. Through a Mitacs agreement, the centre aims to offer quantum PhD students at U of T an internship with a relevant company. Public outreach is also a key focus throughout 2025, in celebration of this special year.
